 Health Science 20 |  Medical Diagnostics    

HS20-DT1
Explore the tools and procedures used to diagnose and monitor medical conditions.
Indicators for this outcome
(b)Identify examples of procedures (e.g., visual inspection) and tools (e.g., stethoscope, octoscope and sphygmomanometer) commonly used for non-invasive diagnostic observations in health care. (K)
(c)Measure and record vital signs (e.g., pulse, respiration, temperature, blood pressure and degree of pain) of self and/or others. (S)

Students will partially meet the above Course Outcome by explore the techniques required to measure the following common vital signs.

  1.  Heart Rate
  2.  Blood Pressure
  3.  Temperature
  4.  Respiratory Rate

Students will provide a written summary for each common vital sign, including:
  • the normal range / reading
  • how to measure
  • your current reading
