Science 10  |  Speed Trap Lab

Problem:
What percentage of cars are speeding in the school zone surrounding Bedford Road Collegiate in a 10 minute time period.

In groups of three or four, the class will use the scientific method to answer this problem.  Groups will have formulated a procedure to follow before class starts.  We will then go outdoors to collect data.  Once data is compiled, the class will go back to the classroom to analyze the data and start the formal lab write up.

We will continue the Classification Lab which we started on Wednesday.  You should have begun the process of organizing the organisms in logical groups.  I will provide you with Monday's class to complete this lab.

This lab will be due on Tuesday, September 10, 2013.

On Wednesday we discussed the number of "discovered" or cataloged species of organisms on earth versus the potential number of individual species.  This article illustrates that not all newly discovered species are microscopic or live in remote locations.

Science 10

Yesterday in Science 10 we began discussing Motion.  You were asked to describe an object that moves, including all forces acting upon the object in motion.  To illustrate how invisible forces act upon an object in motion, we discussed how a bullet works.  

Today, your task is to expand your explanation of an object that moves by completing a small sized poster describing the object and forces acting upon it.  There are numerous ways you can complete this project.  I have limited art supplies in my classroom, so please bring your own supplies to class.

Today is registration day at Bedford Road.  Welcome back!  My home room class (Wellness 10) will meet in Gym 1.  From there, we will go to Room 227 to slog our way through the registration process.  Nothing really exciting.  Bear with me through the boredom.

Welcome

Welcome.  My name is Sheldon Lewchuk and I am a teacher at Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon, SK.  This will not be a conventional entertainment blog, but rather will be used to keep my students and athletes informed about course content and schedules this academic year.  My schedule this semester is as follows:
